How about make it easier to view inventories, and not put it in chat at all.

But some people don't want people pestering them constantly to buy a weapon. That's why they currently have it so that locked items do not show up in trade requests. And that would still require other people to search people's inventories for weapons they would want. No. Imo its much better to be able to advertise YOUR items yourself.

I still dont want to be pestered with loads of random weapons. Just put it in the trading discord imo

Maybe add a new flag called up for trade just like how locked works, if it is not marked for trade it will not appear. Obviously this would add complexity to the system and should have a way of mass marking items but I think it would be a better solution. (Showing locked items but graying them out could have a similar result since some people might want to show items that they do not want to trade.) The chat spam is definitely problematic and is an unintended consequence of using the item’s UUID between the chat tags. If there were some way of making the UUID have a “temporary ID“ that is much shorter that would work too. The only caveat with that system would be the “temporary IDs” could not be used in binds if they expire. Something needs to change though since this is an annoyance in chat and getting spammed with trade requests for things that you do not want to put up for trade.

In summary:
  1. The links in chat should not contain the full UUID of the item since by doing so it makes it to where only one item can be posted per message with the current limit on characters per line.
  2. Add a new option for items called tradable, it would function like locking except if an item were not marked tradable it would not show.
  3. Show locked items in trades but do not allow for them to be selected.
